Comprehensive Centers

What they do: The Centers are designed to serve each of the federally-funded programs under the Improving America's Schools Act (IASA). The Centers work primarily with states, local education agencies (LEA's), tribes, schools, and other recipients of funds under the IASA. The Centers help states, school districts and schools in meeting the needs of:

  • children in high poverty areas;
  • migratory children;
  • immigrant children;
  • children with limited English proficiency;
  • neglected or delinquent children;
  • homeless youth and children;
  • Indian children, Native Alaskan and Hawaiian children
  • children with disabilities

Desegregation Assistance Centers

What they do: The Desegregation Assistance Centers help district and school personnel create safe, positive and bias-free educational environments for all students. Focus on districts that experience conflicts arising from efforts to desegregate and remove barriers to equal educational opportunities.

Eisenhower Regional Math/Science Consortia

What they do: The Eisenhower Regional Math/Science Consortia provide technical assistance and disseminate information to teachers and states implementing math and science programs in accordance with state standards.

Who funds them? Office of Educational Research and Improvement

Regional Educational Laboratories

What they do: The Regional Educational Laboratories research education issues, print publications, provide training programs to teachers and administrators. Services must be accessed through school district education officials.

Who funds them? Office of Educational Research and Improvement

Regional Resource and Federal Center Programs

What they do: The Regional Resource and Federal Center Programs assist state education agencies in improving programs for infants, toddlers, children and youth with disabilities and their families.

Who funds them? Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services

Regional Technology in Education Consortia

What they do: The Regional Technology in Education Consortia help states, local educational agencies, teachers, school library and media personnel and administrators integrate technologies into K-12 classrooms, library media centers, adult literacy centers and other educational settings.
