American Association of School Administrators (AASA) -- Founded in 1865, AASA is the professional organization for over 16,500 educational leaders. The four major focus areas for AASA are: improving the condition of children and youth; preparing schools and school systems for the 21st century; connecting schools and communities; enhancing the quality and effectiveness of school leaders. The Center for Education Reform -- a national, non-profit education advocacy group and an active broker in providing resources, support and guidance for school reform to communities across the United States. The site contains news and articles about different issues in educational reform. Council of Great City Schools (CGCS) -- an organization representing the nation's largest urban public school systems. Online information reports the activities of the Council's 49 member districts. Links lead to CGCS's newsletters, press releases, council reports, and more. Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) -- represents and works on behalf of the public officials who lead state education agencies. The site contains policy statements, links to state education agencies, and special programs. MiddleWeb -- explores the challenges of middle grades reform with a special focus on urban middle schools; the website contains articles, links to schools and other sites, and other resources on urban middle schools. Pathways to School Improvement -- a product of the North Central Regional Educational Laboratory in cooperation with the Regional Educational Laboratory network, this site is a collection of pathways on issues related to school improvement, from professional development to technology to leadership. U.S. Department of Education Technology Initiatives -- provides information about the U.S. Deparment of Education's efforts to promote the use of technology in schools, libraries, and communities to achieve its mission of ensuring equal access to education and promoting educational excellence throughout the nation. |

The Role of Leadership in Sustaining School Reform: Voices from the Field -- a U.S. Department of Education report detailing leadership stories and revealing strategies of recognized leaders of sustained school improvement efforts. Study of Curriculum Reform -- a report on a four-year study, funded by the Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OERI) that looked at curriculum reform in nine schools in the areas of science education, mathematics education, and higher order thinking skills. The report includes case studies, a cross-site analysis of the cases, and implications for policy, practice, and further research. Systemic Reform -- a study conducted by the Consortium for Policy Research in Education and the National Center for Research on Teacher Learning designed to expand knowledge of state approaches to systemic education reform; examine district, school and teacher response to state reform policies in a small number of reforming schools and school districts; identify challenges at different levels to reforming education; study the capacity of the educational system to support education reform; provide guidance to policymakers at all levels of the education system.
