School Reform and Improvement

Introduction

School reform concerns improving what happens in schools. Reform can emphasize classroom instruction­ such as content and methodology­ or it can target more encompassing organizational issues­ such as communication or the decision-making processes of schools. Though the scope of work may vary, successful reformers work through a similar process when undertaking serious school reform. The purpose of this focus area is to highlight what this process entails as well as to provide information on continuous school improvement within the context of NCLB and other educational reform initiatives.
